I have always been passionate about music, but in college I found photography. Like music; shapes, symmetry and balance formed a common thread. Dr. Powell has been selected by the National Flute Association as a charter member of the newly formed Jazz Flute Big Band. Their first performance is scheduled to take place in New York City on August 15, 2009 at the Grand Marquis Ballroom (Marriott Hotel). He was also named as an alternate in the 2009 Jazz Flute Competition. This is the same competition Dr. Powell won in 2003 when he performed in Las Vegas. Congratulations!
